African American History Coalition

The African American History Coalition, a vital initiative of The Cultivator, is dedicated to preserving, celebrating, and promoting the rich heritage of African American communities in Northeastern North Carolina. 

Through educational programs, oral history projects, exhibitions, and community partnerships, the coalition ensures that local stories and contributions are recognized and honored. 

By engaging youth and adults alike in meaningful conversations about history, identity, and justice, the coalition fosters awareness and pride in cultural heritage. 

Aligned with The Cultivator’s values of literacy, storytelling, and inclusion, the African American History Coalition strengthens community connections and ensures that these stories continue to inspire future generations.

Annual Juneteenth Festival

Since 2018, The Cultivator has proudly hosted an annual Juneteenth Festival in Murfreesboro, NC, celebrating African American history, culture, and resilience. This vibrant community event brings people together for a day filled with live music, dance, art, food vendors, and educational activities that honor the significance of Juneteenth and the ongoing journey toward equality and justice.
The festival showcases local artists, storytellers, and small businesses, fostering a spirit of unity and reflection. 

Rooted in our commitment to inclusion, creativity, and community growth, the Juneteenth Festival reflects The Cultivator’s mission by empowering voices, promoting literacy through storytelling and tradition, and cultivating a deeper sense of belonging across all communities.
